Dr. Celeste Schwartz Joins CampusWorks Executive Advisory Board
We are excited to announce that renowned IT leader Dr. Celeste Schwartz has joined CampusWorks’ Executive Advisory Board. With over five decades of experience, Dr. Schwartz brings unparalleled expertise in advancing IT solutions that enhance student experiences and drive academic success, making her a valuable addition to our team.
Dr. Schwartz’s illustrious career at Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) began in 1970, shortly after she graduated from the College. Over the years, she has played a pivotal role in transforming MCCC into a leader in educational technology. Rising through the ranks, Dr. Schwartz was appointed Chief Information Officer in 1987 and later became Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Digital Officer in 2002. In these roles, she led the College’s digital transformation efforts, always with a focus on improving student outcomes and academic achievement.
Her contributions to information technology have been widely recognized. As a long-standing member of the EDUCAUSE community, Dr. Schwartz has been at the forefront of technological innovation in higher education for over two decades. In 2018, her leadership and dedication were honored with the EDUCAUSE Leadership Award, the association’s highest recognition for individual achievement. This prestigious award highlighted her significant impact on IT in education and her unwavering commitment to student success.
Beyond her technical expertise, Dr. Schwartz has been a trailblazer for women in the IT sector. As one of the few female executives in this field, she has served as an inspiring role model for countless students, particularly women pursuing careers in technology. Her leadership has not only transformed MCCC but also made a lasting impact on the broader educational community, encouraging more women to enter and excel in the IT industry.

Dr. Schwartz holds an associate degree in Computer Science from MCCC, a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from St. Joseph’s University, a master’s degree from Villanova University, and her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Walden University in 2011. Her scholarly work and teaching experience have consistently focused on leveraging technology to improve educational processes and outcomes.
